Mulled wine on the carpet?

A recent report by AXA found that British households are under-insured by over £255bn on their home contents insurance - a scary fact before the Christmas mayhem commences!

When the family are over for Christmas dinner, the last thing you want to be worried about is the inevitable accidents that will happen - the wine on the carpet, the TV that gets broken in an over zealous Wii challenge and the camera that gets lost on New Years Eve. But according to AXA many of us are under-insured by up to £10,000 per household which amounts to a home contents insurance defecit of over £255bn across Britain.

According to the report, £29,000 is the average amount protected by home contents insurance, but this is more than £9,000 under the average value consumers put on their home contents. This insurance gap could leave homeowners without any means of replacing lost belongings after an incident and worse still, being under-insured could invalidate your existing insurance policies.

All I want for Christmas is - Contents Insurance

Whilst we understand that it can be tempting to cut unnecessary costs and concentrate your spending on the fun things like Christmas shopping, failing to protect your home could prove to be a false economy. The last thing you want to be worrying about in a time of crisis is how you will afford to replace your belongings, which is why the team at ContractorFinancials have found a number of comprehensive policies that can give you the peace of mind to enjoy the festivities.

Contents cover protects you against accidental damage to electrical equipment such as TV's and fixed glass in furniture such as mirrors. It can also offer cover against specific items in your home such as antique furniture or an expensive piece of jewellery. There are various levels of cover so that you can tailor your protection to your needs and there are additional extras such as carpet cover (for that inevitable spillage) and damage by pets available if you require it.

By searching the market to find what we consider to be the best contents insurance for Contractors, we have taken the leg work out of your insurance search and we can handle the whole process for you via phone, email, post or face-to-face if you prefer.

In case a sleigh damages your roof

Whilst contents insurance is necessary for replacing your belongings, buildings insurance can replace the home in which you keep them and is an essential insurance for homeowners and landlords. If Santa gets stuck up your chimney or worse still if the floods that ruined Christmas for hundreds of Britons last year should strike again and cause structural damage, you can rest assured that your home is fully insured with Buildings and Contents combined cover.

Buildings cover will protect against damage to the property caused by external influences such as fire, flooding, malicious damage and theft. It can also cover against accidental damage to areas such as drains, pipes and cables (which is reassuring when you embark on your next DIY mission). There are a number of options for additional cover on top of the standard policy offered by many providers which means that you can adjust your insurance costs to suit your income at the time.

This essential insurance need not be an expensive luxury and there are various levels of cover available to suit your individual needs.
